Kids learning to garden in Truckee, California

Growing Spaces CEO & Co-Owner Puja Dhyan Parsons had a chance to visit the Truckee Community Farm this spring and see the culmination of the Truckee Community Farm vision we learned about nearly a year ago. Susie Sutphin was kind enough to take Puja on a tour of the Tahoe area to show her all the new projects in the works and in planning. It was a truly inspirational trip for Puja and we look forward to supporting the efforts of the Tahoe Food Hub into the future.

After graduating from Western State Colorado University, I moved back to my home town Pagosa Springs. Since moving back home in 2013, I have been working to develop a farm in Arboles. In my spare time, one may find me backpacking in the wilderness, cruising on a mountain bike, slacklining in the park, or skiing Wolf Creek. I also enjoy creating art when I am not outdoors. The mediums that I enjoy working with are yarn, canvas and paint, and clay. I have been experimenting with aquapoinics and am always excited to share knowledge on the subject with others. • The Tahoe Food Hub is being shown by me to many places now in order to network the idea of how we can all help local food. I was also privileged to see the plans for Squaw Valley in the future, which will include our Growing Domes in a wonderful development which includes fresh food and the science behind it.
Susie is the driving force behind educating the locals about all their growing options. On site they present many different cold frames as well as education about compost building and their amazing Growing Dome. All this in the Sierra Mountains, home of my childhood memories. The inspiration of folks like these can ignite and teach many. Thanks to Bill Kelly and his Mom Deb for their courage, vision and financial support! I was so honored to see everything, and to feel the momentum unfolding. It is still carrying me forward. Puja Dhyan
