Hello Diane, There are four Growing Dome owners in Iowa. I’ll need to get in touch with them first to see if they would be willing to have visitors out before getting their info to you. I’ll be in touch over email so we can talk more. Best, Stacey
I know the thermal tank is often used for aquatic plants and fish, but has anyone attempted to farm tilapia or trout for personal use in their dome tank?
We know a couple of schools that have farmed tilapia, yellow perch and catfish in the Growing Dome water tank. Backyard Growing Dome owners have talked about it, but not sent us any feedback/photos yet. The momentum is growing so we expect to start seeing more of this soon. If you do choose to farm tilapia and you live in a snowy, cold area, you will need to heat the water. That’s why yellow perch or some other cold water species may be preferred. Trout require a good amount of oxygen so you would need to install additional aerators to keep the water suitable for them.
Hi, Just to let you know, I have tilapia in my tank now for three years. Live a couple hours north of Seattle. Had to get the blue strain for they live at the lowest temp. I do heat the water in the winter, and have a little bit of bubblers. Was planning on aquaponics, but never got around to it.
Do you know if there is any dome installed in Seattle area?
Hello Lourdes, Yes, we have a handful of domes installed around Seattle. Thanks for being in touch!
Is there any geo dome’s in Iowa if so can you give me more information..
Thank You!

Thanks for sharing your experience Pam! That’s great to hear.
Is there any Growing Dome owners in the western central Indiana that would allow us to see it?
Thanks for your time.
