Hi Regina, Thanks so much for the question. We do have a number of Growing Dome owners in that area: Redmond, Bellingham, Eatonville, Vashon, Bothell, Long Beach and Grapeville, but we have not been in touch with them recently to know how things are going. We have, however, recently been to visit a Growing Dome in Seal Rock, OR (right on the Oregon coast) and that project is going very well. The lack of sunlight in the winter obviously provides less power for our solar-powered greenhouses, but we can tell you for certain that the Growing Dome will perform better in your area than other greenhouses on the market. This is because of a number of reasons but especially because of the insulative, thermo-regulatory features of the Growing Dome and the geodesic shape that reduces heat-loss.

Hello,
I live in Washington State on the west side of the Cascades. We have rainy and cloudy weather from November through May. Will the solar powered Growing Dome work in this climate? Do you have anyone who has purchased and is using a dome in this area? If so, did they say how it has been working for them?

I love the idea of this way of yearround gardening!

Hello Teresa!

Thank you so much for your interest in Growing Spaces and our Growing Domes. I don’t know how familiar you are with our sizes, but it sounds like you are very limited on space. If we were to modify a Growing Dome into a “half dome,” we would still need to incorporate the features that make the Growing Dome successful. For example the water tank, reflectix, undersoil heating/cooling system, automatic vents, etc……there would just be no room left to do any growing! In essence, the Growing Dome kit is designed with many features and without them, it would not produce the same results. I’d love to discuss this further or even talk about our Growing Domes and sizes in general. Our number is 800-753-9333 and we are here Monday through Friday 9-5.

The back patio of my house truncates into a solid rock wall that runs from west to east (thus, I think it would potentially be a great north wall of a greenhouse.) Is there a way to use your kit, but modify it so that my finished greenhouse would be half of the size of a normal dome – a semi-circle? I live at approx. 8800 ft. and the rock wall was blasted from the mountain behind us when the house was built. I don’t have enough space to even put up a 12′ diameter dome. Any ideas? Thanks!

I am looking for an old book published by Rodale Press , Rodale Farms,that taught how to can, farm ,told all about cold storage underground,how to make head cheese ect.
