Here's Udgar's reply all the way from New Zealand!:
Tilapia and some kind of perch.
Puja confirms.
They had 2 5000 gallon tanks.
I dont know if the fish survived the winter.
I think they harvested them all in the fall.
we are not aware of any projects in Africa that got off the ground.
Biodomes were built in NC (2), ohio, indiana and 3 in scools in Paonia, Hotchkiss and Delta in CO

Hi Ken, Thanks so much for contacting us. I bet that the owner & founder of Growing Spaces, Udgar Parsons, will have an answer to your question. He's in New Zealand right now and touches base with us once a day or so. I'll forward your question on to him and we'll get back to you with an answer! All the best, Stacey

What was the species of fish being raised at the Biodome at Windstar?

I recall that it was said to be a particularly high-protein fish.

And remember being told that Windstar was sponsoring smaller biodome demonstration projects in Africa where the fish (and produce) were feeding entire villages.

Toured the Biodome several times and wrote about it once while I was a reporter with the Rocky Mountain News of Denver in the late '80s, but can't find my article or notes at the moment. (And that was before the web and so it's not archived anywhere online.)

Googled the question: "What kind of fish were raised in the Windstar Biodome?" and that brought me to this website. Know the answer, by any chance?

Thanks,
ken winston caine

I’m impressed, I must say. Actually rarely do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me let you know, you could have hit the nail on the head. Your thought is outstanding; the issue is one thing that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very pleased that I stumbled throughout this in my seek for something regarding this.

Most people want to be eco-friendly but for the most part at least currently sometimes going green technlogoy is not financially a good idea currently.I have looked at eco-friendlyand green technology alternatives like igo green charger and have adapted where it makes financial sense. So far I have also installed solar panels on my home but while looking for a electric car I find the cost doesnt justify it for me. While I am passionate about making green choices and opting for green technology whenever possible it is up to people like you and I to spread awareness and let the companies know there is a demand. Your website looks popular and I think you can help influence society with your insight and green technology tips. By the way I found your site by searching " Greenhouse gardening tips, community gardens and home greenhouses by Growing Spaces | The Hub - Greenhouse Gardening Blog " and you were the first result. So I think your website is a perfect platform to discuss ideas that are thought provoking to help influence your readers to go green. - Good luck with your site, you deserve all the success! Please continue to talk about more eco-tips/green tech, every idea helps us get closer day by day!

Not sure why bing sent me over to your blog but I need to say I have become actually captivated by the information you have sourced together. How many days did it take to start getting that many WWW users coming to your internet page? I am pretty new to this.
